Applications

Many devices use high quality Paul Plate tines or special components for various applications (as seen below). The special components and tines can be found in the Product Group View.

fold faq Plowing / Plow

A plow is an agricultural device used to loosen and turn soil. Plowing is the loosening and turning of the top soil with the help of a plow. Plowing loosens the soil structure, which creates a bigger and rougher surface. Higher oxygen supply, weather influences, as well as the decomposition of organic material generate a loose, water-storing structure.

fold faq Packer / Recompacting

A packer is a trailing device, which can be used behind a plow or another soil tillage device. It’s pulled over the freshly plowed clods, so that the large clods are loosened and the ground becomes fine and recompacted. This way, a suitable seedbed develops and the tilth (aeration and revival) and the capillarity of the ground are promoted.

fold faq Seedbed Preparation

The seedbed preparation, also known as secondary tillage, is a special form of tillage that is supposed to prepare the ground for take-in of seed and planting material.

Gardening, agriculture, landscaping and forest have very different methods, based on the equipment and requirements of the seeds. In this case, the seedbed plays a vital part in the germination and emergence of the seeds, as well as the youth growth of the plantation, which is commonly known as the most sensitive part of the plant development (Ontogenesis).

fold faq Cultivator

The Cultivator is an agricultural device used for non-turning soil cultivation, the loosening and crumbling of the soil, as well as weeding and the incorporation of humous materials into the soil.
Small forms as garden tools (with movable knife-like wheels or three tines on one stalk) are also described as cultivators.

fold faq Sowing

Sowing is the process of placing seeds in the seedbed. In agriculture it is differentiated between broad-spreading, Dippelseeding, no-tillage, seed-drilling, precision seeding and mulch seeding. Broad-spreading is the sowing method used since antiquity. The amount of seeds in hand per throw, the broadness of the throw and the step length of the “sow-man” determine the amount of seeds per unit area.

During seed-drilling, seeds are placed down with a driller. This method is mainly used for grain. An equal amount of distance between plants is sought for crops like sugar beets and corn. This is where precision seeding comes into place. The precision seeding machine places the seeds with the same distance from each other to the accuracy of centimeters; even within rows.

fold faq Harrow

A harrow is a agricultural device to break up clods as well to loosen and crumble the top ground layer after plowing (i.e. cultivating) or before sowing to prepare the seedbed. During broad-spreading, the harrow helps with incorporating the seeds.
